Abstract

Article presents the art therapy program "Noah's Ark". Aim of the program is helping to overcome difficult life situations through the biblical story "Noah's Ark". The program is divided in three blocks.

The first block is “The Ark”, the task of which is to prepare a safe place, search for inner strength and find support from loved ones, there are 5 workshops: The World in Evil (elaboration of emotions); Noah and His Family (identifying of myself with the main character and finding a supportive figure in the family and loved ones); Safe Place (creating a safe space and working with boundaries); Ark (building a common ark, team building and cooperation); Populating the Ark with animals (helping others).

The "Flood" block, in which there is a meeting with difficulties, consists of 2 workshops: Flood (elaboration of fears and anxieties); Blessing (Rainbow) (acceptance of the situation, the rainbow as a bridge of transition from the past to the future).

The block "Earth" is dedicated to the fundamental construction of a new home. There are 5 workshops: New Earth (creation of a new world); Home on the new earth (building your own world with personal boundaries); Family (values); Populating the world with animals (socialization); History (reinforcement). At the last meeting, each child tells about the history he or she has lived through during all the workshops.

The article analyzes the psychological indicators of the children-participants before and after this program, confirming its effectiveness.
