Abstract

Currently, the mass media serve as a device for constructing social space, forming a picture of the world, including its component part, called media space.  The media is a key tool, a social institution and the main source of information that influences the consciousness of the audience and the formation of public opinion. The topic of the article seems to be very relevant, since the Republic of Belarus is developing according to the model of a welfare state, where special attention is paid to targeted social support for public groups that, for various reasons, are deprived of the opportunity to enjoy social benefits in full. This category includes persons with special needs of psychophysical development.

The relevance of the study lies in the need to reflect in the modern media space the problems of persons with special needs in order to draw the attention of government agencies, public associations, and individual citizens to them in order to resolve existing difficulties in their socialization and provide them with diverse assistance. It is especially important to form a proper information policy in relation to this social group in order to create effective communication and full inclusion of people with special needs of psychophysical development.

The article presents the results of a study of the modern belarusian media space on the issues of social inclusion, which analyzes the focus of messages on the topic of inclusion, the peculiarities of its representation in the republican, regional and specialized media of the Republic of Belarus.
