Abstract

The article examines the relationship between life orientations and motivation learning of younger students at different stages of primary school education. The study used a modified Questionnaire of subject-object orientations by E. Y. Korzhova, T. V. Kukovkin for primary school age, the technique "What is good and what is bad" adapted by N. V. Kuleshova, the questionnaire "Assessment of the level of school motivation" by N. G. Luskanova, the technique "Studying the motivation of learning in younger schoolchildren" by M. R. Ginzburg. The study involved 55 students of a secondary school in St. Petersburg aged 8-11 years: 2nd grade − 28 people (19 boys, 9 girls), 4th grade − 27 people (17 boys, 10 girls). Both similarities and differences have been identified in the life orientations and motivation of primary school students. Most of the younger students in the second and fourth grades have subject orientations in relation to cognitive activity, a high level of moral values and cognitive skills. At the same time, the level of motivation for learning in children in the second grade is higher than the level of children in the fourth grade, but the formation of life orientations is higher in younger students of the fourth grade than in younger students of the second grade. A project for the development of life orientations and learning motivation is proposed. It is shown that the purposeful development of life orientations and educational motivation in the form of play and creative activity shows a positive effect on the orientation of the personality of a younger student.
